Flow

Flow is one of the two main telecommunications companies in the Turks and Caicos (the other being Digicel). Flow offers both fixed and mobile telephone service, digital TV, and fiber internet services throughout the Turks and Caicos Islands.

SIM cards can be purchased around the island at a cost of $10 (credit additional).

Branding and Cable and Wireless

Until 2008, Flow was known as Cable and Wireless. In 2008, the consumer side of Cable and Wireless across the Caribbean renamed itself as LIME, an acronym for ‘Landline, Internet, Mobile, Entertainment.’

In 2015, another name change occurred, resulting in the current branding of ‘Flow’.

History

Cable and Wireless began operations in the Turks and Caicos in 1897, with the construction of a telegraph link from Bermuda and onto Jamaica (Grand Turk being a convenient ‘halfway’ point). The Bermuda leg was operational the next year in 1898, and the Jamaica link was operational in 1899.

In 2006, Digicel was granted a spectrum and telecommunications license in the Turks and Caicos, ending the 106-year monopoly of Cable and Wireless (as it was known then).

Located in Leeward Highway

Leeward Highway is the main highway on Providenciales, and runs from the Downtown and airport area to the far eastern end of the island. Many of the island’s larger stores and businesses are located along this four-lane route.
