Caicos Express Airways
#1229 Southern Shores Building, Leeward Highway, ProvidencialesOne of two homegrown inter-island airline carriers, Caicos Express Airways makes for easy travel between the islands of the Turks and Caicos and a few destinations in the wider Caribbean. Caicos Express operates a regular schedule from Providenciales, Grand Turk, South Caicos, and Salt Cay, making the islands accessible and worth a visit for travelers’ itineraries when planning their trip to TCI.
Domestic Flights
Caicos Express services return flights from Provo to Grand Turk at least twice daily with reasonable airfares. The short 30-minute flight from the Providenciales International Airport transports passengers to a bygone era, as Grand Turk (the capital of TCI) is rich with history and is easily explored in a day.
Domestic Flight Baggage Policies
On domestic flights, the first checked bag, at a maximum weight of 50 pounds, is free, with an incremental fee charged for each additional bag. Bags weighing more than 50 pounds are charged a penalty in addition to the bag fee. Carry-on luggage is permitted on the aircraft, but due to the size limitations of the smaller craft in operation, strict sizing restrictions are adhered to, and a maximum weight of 15 pounds is permitted. Exceptions for excess baggage are on a ‘space available’ basis.
For travelers planning to travel with fishing or golfing equipment, both are accepted on Caicos Express flights. Similarly, small pets are accommodated on flights for a nominal fee. Pets may be transported in the cabin or in the hold, but larger kennels may require an aircraft charter. Service animals fly at no additional cost.
International Flights
If you are hoping to explore further afield, using TCI as a base, Caicos Express offers flights between Providenciales to Cap Haitien in Haiti every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday and flights on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday to Santiago in the Dominican Republic.
International Flight Baggage Policies
On international flights, the first bag is free for luggage of up to 50 pounds, although a second checked bag comes with a fee. Bags weighing more than 50 pounds are also charged a penalty in addition to the bag fee, while bags weighing more than 70 pounds are subject to a higher charge. Child fares have the same allowance as adults, however infants are only allowed strollers and car seats at no additional charge. No other baggage is permitted. For those transiting from domestic to international, the international baggage policy will be applied to the ticket.Charter Flights
Caicos Express Airways offers charter service to various destinations that include the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, Cayman, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and other locations in the Eastern Caribbean. All scheduled international flights to the Turks and Caicos land at the Providenciales International Airport (airport code PLS). The Grand Turk JAGS McCartney International Airport (airport code GDT) is also a smaller international airport, but no scheduled international flights service the island at this time.
Located in Leeward Highway
Leeward Highway is the main highway on Providenciales, and runs from the Downtown and airport area to the far eastern end of the island. Many of the island’s larger stores and businesses are located along this four-lane route.
